Disco Fever Bride Editorial

It’s a tale as old as time: You find your dream wedding dress only to look at the price tag and think, “All that for something I’m only gonna wear once?” Not always the most exciting feeling.

So many of my bridal clients talk about the pain of this exact situation that finally one day I said, “ENOUGH!” Who says you can’t wear your fabulous dress again… and feel like a badass doing it?

I thought about how rad it would be for brides to do a whole photoshoot dedicated to their dress. What if we captured it in a unique, fun way that’s different from your actual wedding look?

So that’s exactly what I created with Shelby.

The Idea

My idea was to showcase what is possible when it comes to doing a post-wedding bridal shoot dedicated to showing off not only your beautiful gown, but how awesome you can be in it! Let’s not allow your kick-ass dress to sit on a shelf just yet. We want to make the most of it. So, Shelby and I worked together to set up an editorial shoot for her in dedication to her sequined white gown — and the results were stunning.

Get the Most Out of Your Wedding Dress

The average wedding dress is a huge chunk of change. It can be so painful to spend all that money just to trash it or let it sit on a shelf. When you choose to do a separate photoshoot dedicated to your gown not only do you get to use it again, but you can also be way more creative with your look than you could on your wedding day. In Shelby’s case, a dress this rad had no business being boxed away.

Hair and makeup artist Chie Sharp decided to tease her locks a bit with some curls and some cute barrettes. Then, kept her makeup simple but bold by adding some white eyeliner. Her whole look was absolutely stunning because her red hair was such a cool contrast with her dress.

Main Character Wedding Dress Vibes

The photos on your wedding day are meant to capture a special moment in time. They help to remember the experience of bonding yourself to the love of your life from that day forward. On the other hand, an editorial-style wedding dress shoot has a very different atmosphere. This is a shoot that’s all about you and feeling confident in your unique dress.

If you’ve ever wanted to feel like a model with your hair and makeup done and the camera flashing, this is the perfect opportunity. Not only will this shoot highlight your dress, but it will also highlight what you looked like and acted like in this stage of your life.

During the shoot, Shelby was the main character. It was so fun to see her feeling beautiful and just expressing herself through her attitude and her poses. I loved the opportunity to capture her in her element and have some fun.

Now It’s Your Turn

The thing is, this opportunity isn’t just for Shelby. It can be for any bride at any point before or after her wedding. Heck, who says you can’t have a special shoot with your new life partner? Nobody needs to be a model here! Let’s embrace who you are, and bring out your inner badass queen moment.

Not only do you deserve to make the most of your gown, but you deserve to celebrate yourself at this stage of your life. Marriage is such a beautiful thing, with a special shoot, you can really take a moment to cherish the memory of your wedding day and the feeling of crossing the threshold into your brand new stage of life.

What a unique idea Jess. I love the idea that the dress isn’t just worn once then archived away. Gorgeous images.
